Sunday 18th April saw the SABFC Village Walk. The aim of this was to bring our communities together to raise funds for a great cause. This year it was in memory of our mate Padge and for Melanoma Research, in particular a specific project that they are trying to fund. In years gone by, our villages regularly came together for all sorts of causes and events, and we were sure that this could happen again.
With someone looking down on us and providing the nicest weather of the year, Paul and Nikki at The Woolpack, yet again helping by hosting the event and our regular team of volunteers on hand to manage the day, it was just a case of waiting for the masses !
It was never in doubt. Fifteen minutes before the scheduled start, the car park started to fill. And the people just kept arriving. Over the next two hours, around 200 people undertook one of the three routes around our lovely villages. It was amazing. Everyone enjoyed it and were so very generous with it. From young to old, from those who did walk to those who just donated, it was awesome. On the day, we raised a staggering £1200. By the time we finish collecting the sponsor money from club members, we hope that the figure will be nearer £1800.
Grand Total Raised is now £2000
We would like to thank everyone who helped make this such a success, whether they be club members or new friends of the club from our community. It was a very special day and one that we hope to repeat in the future.
